We urgently need volunteers for our Winter Night Shelter

Our Winter Night Shelter will return in January 2027, providing a safe, warm place to stay for people experiencing homelessness in High Wycombe during the coldest months of the year. But we need more people to make it happen.
We need more than 350 volunteers to run the shelter, and currently have fewer than half the number we need signed up. With volunteer training starting next week, we're urging people to come forward now and help us prepare for winter.
Hosted at seven church venues in and around High Wycombe town centre, the shelter runs throughout January, February and March. Guests receive a safe place to sleep, hot evening meals and breakfast, access to showers and laundry facilities, and support from the Wycombe Homeless Connection team to help them find somewhere more permanent to live.
Our volunteers make all of this possible. They welcome guests, prepare and serve meals, help with laundry, drive the shelter van and provide overnight support. There are lots of different ways to get involved, and you don't need to commit to every week. Giving a few evenings, nights or mornings, typically two or three times a month, can make a real difference.
We know people are busy, but we cannot run the shelter without enough volunteers. For someone who would otherwise have nowhere to sleep, having a safe place to stay and people who care can be life-changing.
If you've been thinking about getting involved in your local community, please don't leave it until later. We need new volunteers to step forward now so we can prepare to open the shelter this winter.
Volunteers must be aged 18 or over.
