Winter Night Shelter Role: Laundry Volunteer

Clean bedding and towels keep our guests comfortable and happy and that’s where our Laundry Volunteers make a real difference.

You’ll be helping behind the scenes to make sure everything is fresh, clean, and ready for the next night at the shelter.

What you’ll do

  • Collect laundry from the office Monday - Friday.
  • Wash and dry bedding and towels either at home or at a launderette.
  • Return the laundry by the next scheduled laundry day so it can be packed and loaded onto the van for the shelter.
  • Handle bedding, pillowcases, hand towels, and body towels for up to 12 guests each night.

What you’ll need

  • Access to transport and the ability to carry laundry bags.
  • Willingness to follow hygiene and care guidelines.

Training and support

There no specific training for the laundry voluntere but you are welcome to join our general night shelter training.
Our Laundry Coordinator will organise a rota to share the load!
