Winter Night Shelter Laundry Volunteer

Clean bedding and towels keep our guests comfortable and happy — and that’s where our Laundry Volunteers make a real difference. You’ll be helping behind the scenes to make sure everything is fresh, clean, and ready for the next night at the shelter.

What you’ll do

  • Collect laundry from the office Monday–Friday.
  • Wash and dry bedding and towels either at home or at a launderette.
  • Return the laundry by the next scheduled laundry day so it can be packed and loaded onto the van for the shelter.
  • Handle bedding, pillowcases, hand towels, and body towels for up to 12 guests each night.

What you’ll need

  • Access to transport and the ability to carry laundry bags.
  • Willingness to follow hygiene and care guidelines.

Training and support

We’ll provide all role-specific training, so you know exactly what to do and how to keep things running smoothly and our Laundry Coordinator will organise a rota to share the load.

Interested?

Make sure you're registered either as a new or returning volunteer. We'd also encourage you to come to one of our in-person training sessions so you can hear all about the shelter, meet other volunteers and see what you're a part of!
