Winter Night Shelter Returning Volunteers

If you volunteered at night shelter in 2025, or volunteer for Wycombe Homeless Connection in another role then: first, thank you; secondly there are some things we'd like you to do.

Sign up for a training session

We will be running weekday evening and Saturday morning training session this autumn, to prepare you for the 2026 Night Shelter.  It is vital that everyone attends one of these sessions, both because we have made changes to the organisation of the shelter this year, and because safeguarding and other training must be repeated each year.

Update your record on CERVIS

We have made a few changes to the information we are asking for on CERVIS, and also it is important that the information we have is up-to-date.

So please go to your Volunteer profile and check everything, but particularly the following:

  • Your E-mail address.
  • Your emergency contacts
  • The groups (nights) and roles you are interested in.  This will give us an idea how many volunteers we will potentially have available for each venue.  When the time comes this will also affect which shifts you are able to sign up for.
  • Preferred overall frequency of volunteering.  This will help us to balance to number of shifts we assign to each volunteer.
  • Do you have a driving licence.
  • Are you prepared to drive a long wheel base transit van.
  • Allergies and Intolerances.  This will be vital if you volunteer for an evening shift, as the cooks need to know.
