We are incredibly proud to share that Wycombe Homeless Connection (WHC) has been named Outstanding Contribution by an Organisation to the Charity Sector in Buckinghamshire, as part of Heart of Bucks’ 25th anniversary celebrations.
The award, sponsored by Buckinghamshire Building Society, recognises our long-term commitment and impact across the county.
For almost 20 years, WHC has been a consistent presence in Buckinghamshire preventing hundreds of unnecessary evictions, securing homes for people sleeping rough, running winter night shelters, and supporting people to navigate complex legal and healthcare systems.
Heart of Bucks, the Community Foundation for Buckinghamshire, has spent the last year celebrating 25 years supporting grassroots charities and community groups. In that time, it has awarded more than £20 million to over 1,500 organisations. The celebrations culminated in an awards dinner at Hedsor House, bringing together charities and community leaders to recognise the real, lasting impact being made across the county.
This award is not about a single project or moment in time. As our CEO, James Boultbee, said:
“This was all about recognising our long-term impact in Buckinghamshire.
“We feel very strongly that this award belongs to the hundreds of volunteers and supporters, our dedicated staff team, past and present, those who founded the charity and everyone who has been part of WHC since it began. You have made a difference to so many people’s lives.”
At WHC, our mission is to stop homelessness before it starts and to reduce the harm homelessness can cause. WHC is a Christian-led charity that works inclusively with people from all faiths and none, mobilising our whole community together to make that mission a reality. This award is a powerful reminder that our volunteers, supporters, staff team and partners are truly at the heart of everything we do. Without your time, compassion, generosity and belief in our work, none of this would be possible.
Henry Allmand, CEO of Heart of Bucks, noted at the ceremony that the charity sector rarely pauses to celebrate. James added:
“So please, if you’re someone who has played any part in what we do at WHC, do take a moment to celebrate everything that has been achieved for homeless people in our community since 2007. You have all won a very special award.”
Thank you for standing with us over the years and for continuing to help us create a community where homelessness is prevented wherever possible, and where no one is left to face it alone.
