Privacy Notice for referees
We collect your data so that we can contact you to verify that the person mentioning you as a referee is suitable to work, volunteer or serve as a trustee at WHC. This is a legitimate interest of WHC.
WHC may store your data using a company which is located in another country but which offers safeguards as required by UK law.
WHC will not share your details with any other organisation unless legally obliged to do so.
In the case of a successful application for employment, we will retain your details with the rest of the applicant’s information until about seven years after the end of their employment. If the applicant is not accepted by WHC, your details will be promptly deleted.
If a volunteer is taken on by WHC, we will retain your details with the rest of the applicant’s information until about two years after they cease active volunteering. If a volunteer application is not completed (if the applicant withdraws, for example), your details will be deleted about three months after the application was made. If an applicant is not accepted by WHC, your details will be promptly deleted.
If a trustee applicant is taken on by WHC, we will retain your details with the rest of the applicant’s information while they remain a trustee. If the applicant is not accepted by WHC, your details will be promptly deleted.
You may contact WHC at privacy@wyhoc.org.uk or on 01494 447699 or at 8 Castle St, High Wycombe HP13 6RF to request to access your data; to have it corrected; to restrict or object to our use of your data; or to have it erased. If you object to our use of your data under our legitimate interest, then we may no longer be able to process the application of the person who mentioned you as a referee.
