Please put any missing or faulty equipment or list any extra stock cupboard items that need topping up in the Cook box on the food log.
We currently have a guest with a nut intolerance. Please adjust your menus accordingly.
Ingredients and parts of the meal can be prepared and pre-cooked at home by the cook and/or assistant cook in advance of your shelter shift. This applies at all venues.
Cooks can ask assistant cooks to prepare at home as well and the cook, as the volunteer who holds the food hygiene and safety qualifications, must explain any hygiene and safety steps that need to be taken.
The cook will ensure that any records that need to be made are put in the cook’s log at their shift.
If you have any queries about this contact Tara tara.roberts@wyhoc.org.uk
You'll get an email putting you in touch with each other. Assistant cooks can be asked to prepare ingredients or part of the meal at home as long as the cook explains any hygiene and safety steps that need to be taken and any records that need to be made are put in the log book. So, please do ask your assistant cook to make the pudding if you need to! Further clarity will be emailed on this shortly.
No pork-products to be used at Wycombe Community Church (SDA) on a Monday night. Vegetarian is better all round but if you do wish to cook with meat, please stick to chicken.
Our budget for the night shelter meals is £3.50 - £4 per head. You can expect there to be up to 22 people (12 guests and 10 volunteers) at each evening shift. That's £77-£88 for each evening.
If you would like to claim expenses, you need to submit an expenses form and receipts. The form is below and it is also in the shelter log book that travels to each venue.
You can
1. Fill out a form at the venue and put it in the log book with receipts.
2. Email the form and scans of receipts to finance@wyhoc.org.uk
3. Print the form and bring it and receipts to the office.
Please add your bank account details so we can pay you by bank transfer.
We're supporting you in this and both courses are free to you and only take a couple of hours. If this causes a worry, get in touch.
We must have seen a copy of your certificates before you take on your first cooking shift.
If you already hold this it needs to be valid until 31/3/25 or if it doesn't have an expiry date, you must have trained after 1/10/2021.
Send us a photo or your certificate, or a copy of it to volunteer.enquiries@wyhoc.org.uk
Otherwise, you have been invited to FREE online training with our training providers Essential Food Hygiene. Look for an email from them (could goin spam!) inviting you to the online course.
Let us know if you haven't had that email.
Once you've completed the course, which takes about 90 minutes, we will be able to see your certificate online so no need to send it to us.
Important changes happened to Food Allergen regulations in 2021 so all cooks must undergo new training.
If you already hold this qualification or similar send it to us as above. Your certificate must be current by 31/3/25 or if it doesn't have an expiry date, you must have trained after 1/10/2021.
Otherwise you must do free online training which will take about an hour.
You will get an electronic certificate which you must send to volunteer.enquiries@wyhoc.org.uk
