WHC winter night shelter to return in 2025
Street homelessness is back to its worst levels.
People who are living on the street in south Buckinghamshire, and who have no other option, will be offered shelter next winter.
The cost of living crisis continues to put enormous pressure on people. The local authority’s budgets are stretched beyond coping. We do not expect them to be able provide the necessary number of beds next winter
We’ll provide beds and food, and our team will work with our guests to help them find a home for good.
While we will always work to make sure people are offered housing first, rather than other less effective accommodation, but because of the current situation we are re-opening our night shelter for the winter of 2025.
Next winter, our night shelter will once again be hosted at churches in Wycombe.
We need your support to make it happen!
Volunteers
We need people to help set up venues, welcome guests, host the shelter, cook, drive and more.
Fill out our form now to express your interest in volunteering and we’ll be in touch.
Money
While many resources to run the shelter are generously donated, we need gifts of money to make it happen. Every gift helps*. Please, can you help bring the shelter back?
- £28 can provide a safe place to sleep, a hot evening meal and breakfast in our shelter
- £140 can keep our helpline open for a day so people can get advice to avoid homelessness
- £350 can fund a ‘move on and in’ package, helping someone move on from the shelter into a home
- £1,278 sponsors a support worker for a month who will provide personalised support at the shelter and in our daily support centre
*Your gift will be used where the need is the greatest
Practical items
As we get closer to the shelter, we will need gifts of physical items to make it happen.
With your help, we will make sure no one has to sleep on the streets of south Buckinghamshire in the winter.
Thank you.
